Jenn Murray

    I thought Jenn Murrays talk about being an environmental prof and a flight attendent was very interesting becuase you could tell she planned out her presontation and new what she wanted to say. The problem for me with her environmental job is the 10 or more years of schooling she went through to get a secure job being a prof.  The environment is her passion which is why she went through with that, but for most people its not, so for me it would be a little waist of time and would be very tiring. Its not a type of job I would want but other then that I thought her presiontation was very well done and professional other then her kids running around and making noise

fire fighters

     Fireman do a lot more work around the city then I thought they did. They do way more then just put out fires and slide down long poles. They go to almost all emergancy calls and are usually the first ones there becuase the have a certain time limet to get to the location. Being a fireman still sounds like an amazing job but also can be very dangerous, im not sure if I would want to be a fireman becuase of that reason and the higher risk of cancer.

V for Vendetta

     I thought V fro Vendetta was a very good movie. In the movie I thought it was wrong that the government and police could listen in to the homes of their people. They said it was to keep them safe but the government should not be able to be in there homes, they can keep them safe with out entering their personal lives. I think the government had way to much power over their people. Also I thought what V was doing was right, but he could of done it differently and got his revenge with out killing all the people and evenutally getting him self killed. Vwas not evil and didnt kill the innocent poeple.

"Nobody Home"

I really like the song "Nobody Home" by Pink Floyd. I really like the vocals in this song, I can hear the feeling of loneliness in his voice. I also think it's cool how he describes his hotel room where he is staying. I also really enjoy the musical structure of this song. I like how it starts off with just piano and vocals, and eventually includes a string section in the background. That is why I like the song "Nobody Home" by Pink Floyd.

        I have been playing guitar now for about 3 years, I tried to start playing when I was about 7 years old but gave up becuase my hands were to small for my dads guitar. I picked the guitar up again a few years later becuase I heard the song snow by red hot chilli peppers playing and wanted to learn how play it. Then a few weeks later I played a few songs I learned to the guitar player in my dads band and he thought I was pretty good, and gave me an electric fender telecaster to practice on and to get better. After that I got lessons and still havent put down the guitar.

Snowboardiing

            Snowboarding is deffinitely my favourite sport, I have been on the hills my whole life I started skiing when I was really little did that for about 6 years then switched over to snowboarding. And ever since than I have never gone back. The picture above was taken this winter at the chicopee terrain park. I didnt get to go anywhere els much becuase we didnt get alot of snow this winter, so thats wheres I spent most of my time.

Should we all have to learn french in high school ?

      I think it should stay the same as it is. Let the students choose if they want to keep learning french, it wouldnt make sense to make all students take french becuase the kids that didn't grow up taking french and are in applied courses dont fully understand and arent completely learning how to speek the language. Also it depends on what the students want to do when their older if the job doesnt completely involve french then it should not be mandatory.  

Guest Speaker

   I thought that the guest speaker was a little nervous but that might of been becuase the class wasnt asking enouph questions and not making her feel comfortable. But other then that the book sounded really good and she said the book didnt fully resemble her life it was just the beggining of her ideas and the outline of the story, I think that makes the book better and more interesting. That is what makes me want to read it.

Kony 2012

     The Kony 2012 idea I think is a brilliant way to get people to notice him and to let the government know that this has to change. But there are some flaws with the idea, yes people are starting notice him and know his name. But they dont exactly know who he is and what he does. They should also advertise more about the horrible things that he did and still does so people really know what is going on and why he needs to get noticed. Also alot of people think that this came a little to late becuase what he did has already been done and the worst is pretty much over.

Are people good or evil ?

     There are very good reasons for each argument, and its hard to choose a side. But I believe that humans are more on the side of evil than good mostly because of nature and how we started global warming and making it worse. There are many different videos and books about what humans have done to the environment like the inconvenient truth by Al Gore, in my opinion that is one of the best movies about global warming and one that could make a change. There are good people in the world trying to change it but theres way to many that are oblivious to what is happening and arent making a change at all. Those are the people that are evil even though some dont even know it.

Teenagers asking viewers

      It is true that alot of kids are very insecure with there looks and what poeple think of them. They go out and spend all their money on clothes and makeup soo that kids at school will like them more. Yes there are alot of kids out there that tease and pick on people for how they look, from what I have seen its mostly girls trying to fit in and also being mean to others, they pick on other girls to try and show that they are better then them. There are way better ways to feel better about your self and less insecure then to ask people online how ugly you are. If you tell them to be honest and that you can handle it, The viewers will be brutally honest and very mean. Posting a picture of your self online is just letting all those other bullies around the world see you and be able to say more mean things.

Should victory lapped be scrapped ?

     I think having a choice to take a 5th year should not be taken away from students. Most kids probably know what they want to do with there life when older but some kids don't and need the extra year to figure it out. I agree with Jenna Hazzards comment on fifth year saying "Since many students do not decide on their future career until Grade 11 or even 12, they end up scrambling to fit in the necessary courses for their chosen career. The fifth year is high school’s last gift to its students before we are expected to join the adult world, and it would be a shame to take that away". I am only in grade 10 but i am pretty sure I want to take the extra year to figure out what I really want and to be sure. The victory lap is very useful for students and should not be taken away. 

the power of 4th graders

     The change.org website is the perfect website to let people speak there mind and be able to make a change in issues they don't agree with. Just like the 4th graders making a change to one of the biggest movie studios in the world. Because of that website the 4th grade class was able to fight and change the the Lorax movie into what it should really be about. and the 4th grade class won with 57,000 signatures, and universal studios had to change the movie. I think this website is really what people needed to be able to have a say in what they believe.   

Top 2 books

     My first pick out of the books I would like to read is Lord of the Flies, because I love reading adventure books, There usually pretty exiting all the way through and you dont want to stop reading. I have read two books so far about kids being lost at sea and stranded on an island and so far I think they have been two of my favorites, so im pretty sure I will really like Lord of the Flies. My second choise would be IntoThin Air because it is another adventure book but its also a true story and true stories interest me alot and I usaually get pretty curious about what happened to the people and how they survived or didn't.

should Marijuana be legal ?

    Making marijuana legal is one issue that is hard to decide, there is a lot of pros and cons for legalising it. Marijuana being illegal like it is today is making the crime rate go up because more and more kids are wanting to try it and getting in trouble with the law. If marijuana was legal I think the crime rate would go way down and the police could focus on much bigger issues in the city. Another good reason for making marijuana legal is the government would make a lot money off of it with taxes. There is better reasons for making marijuana legal then keeping it illegal. I think it would be better for most people if it changed. Also if it was legal maybe less kids would be interested in trying it because its not doing something bad or risky.

Abortion

I think that Abortion should legal at a certain point of the pregnancy. When the baby is just starting to evolve and and doesn't have any body parts yet or thoughts is a good time for abortion. A lot of people still think that its wrong but killing an animal like a dear is actually a lot worse. The baby fetus is barely even living yet and it might be better for the baby if it lived and had a bad childhood and life.
